Bring Me The Horizon Band

Bring Me The Horizon About

Early years and Count Your Blessings (2004–2007)

Bring Me the Horizon began in 2004.[4][5] They acquired their name based on a line taken from the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, in which Captain Jack Sparrow shouts "Now... Bring me that horizon.".[6]

The band were originally signed to Thirty Days of Night Records and were the first band to be signed to that label.

They released their debut album Count Your Blessings in October 2006 in the United Kingdom and in August 2007 in the United States.

Suicide Season and line-up change (2008–2009)

Bring Me the Horizon recorded their second studio album Suicide Season in Sweden with Fredrik Nordström, who has worked with bands such as At the Gates, Arch Enemy, I Killed the Prom Queen and Dimmu Borgir. The album was released in September 2008. Suicide Season is completely different to the previous Count Your Blessings, having a more metalcore vibe to it, similar to the debut EP release, This Is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For.[citation needed]

The band embarked on their first headline tour of the US, as well as appearing in the 2008 Warped Tour. Bring Me the Horizon also joined Mindless Self Indulgence, In Case of Fire, Black Tide and Dir en grey on the Kerrang! and Relentless 2009 UK tour.[citation needed] They also joined Thursday, Cancer Bats, Four Year Strong and Pierce the Veil on the Taste of Chaos 2009 North American tour.

In November 2009 Bring Me the Horizon released a remixed version of Suicide Season, titled Suicide Season: Cut Up!. Musicians and producers featured on the album include Ben Weinman from The Dillinger Escape Plan, Sonny Moore, L’Amour La Morgue (Ian Watkins from Lostprophets), Utah Saints and Shawn Crahan from Slipknot.[7]

In March 2009, guitarist Curtis Ward left the band. A number of reasons have been cited for his departure: in an interview, bassist Matt Kean commented that "it became apparent he wasn't enjoying it" and that it was "just about commitment".[8] Jona Weinhofen, formerly of I Killed The Prom Queen and Bleeding Through, replaced him. According to Oliver Sykes in an interview on the subject, Weinhofen injected the band with a new-found enthusiasm, causing the band's performances to be "so much better and refreshing", and he feels they have "stepped up another level".[9]

There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret (2010–present)

In an exclusive interview, Bring Me the Horizon revealed to Kerrang! Magazine that the band's currently planning to write the follow-up to Suicide Season during the summer of 2009, with the plan to go into the studio with ex-producer Fredrik Nordström (who produced Suicide Season) in March 2010. The then-untitled third studio album was also set to feature new guitarist Jona Weinhoffen. The band also announced an "unofficial" release date for the upcoming record and that to be of 5th October. Sykes has also stated that the band have been doing "some writing-up and jam chords" during the Vans Warped Tour 2010 tour and that "some records are being mixed-and-blended back in the studio right now". Sykes has also announced several "unofficial" titles for the written tracks including "If You're One of Them, Die!", "Bluud", and "You Have the Looks". On August 4th, the band revealed to Kerrang! Magazine that the follow-up to Suicide Season will be titled There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret. The upcoming record also sets to feature electropop musician Lights and You Me at Six frontman Josh Franceschi. There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven, Let's Keep It a Secret will be released via Visible Noise Records (United Kingdom) and Epitaph Records (United States), as of 4 and 5 October respectively. On August 21, 2010, the band announced that they would be releasing the first single off the album, titled "It Never Ends" via digital download on August 25, 2010. The accompanying music video was released on Visible Noise's YouTube page. On September 14, 2010, the band announced that they would be making their new track, "Fuck", available on MySpace. The entire album began streaming on Myspace on September 28, 2010.[10]

The album debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200 in the US[11], number 13 on the UK Album Chart[12], and number 1 on the UK Rock Chart[13] and the UK Indie Chart[14].

Controversy

Nottingham incident

While on tour in the United Kingdom allegations were made against vocalist Oliver Sykes that he urinated upon and then assaulted a female fan after a gig at Nottingham Rock City when she allegedly refused his sexual advances. Sykes was subsequently charged with urinating on the fan, but not with physical assault.[15] Online music zine Drowned In Sound claimed that Bring Me The Horizon were banned from Nottingham Rock City.[16] However the band's label Visible Noise denied these rumors and the band subsequently played Nottingham Rock City on 1 December 2007.[17]

On 13 April, Sykes appeared in Nottingham Magistrates Court on a charge of common assault relating to the alleged urination incident, to which he pleaded not guilty. The case was adjourned until early May.[18] On 3 May 2007 Sykes attended Nottingham Magistrates court for the second time and confirmed his not guilty plea. The case was adjourned again until 17 September.[19] Due to lack of evidence, all charges against Sykes were dropped.[20] The song No Need for Introductions, I've Read About Girls Like You on the Backs of Toilet Doors, on the Suicide Season LP, is reportedly about the alleged incident.

YouTube video with Architects

During a tour, Bring Me the Horizon and Architects filmed a video showing fights between Oliver Sykes and Architects' lead singer Sam Carter. The video was filmed at an all-day event in Karlsruhe, Germany and shows what seemed to be Sam Carter committing acts of physical violence towards Oliver. The video was uploaded to YouTube and outraged many Bring Me the Horizon fans, causing many to send hate mail towards Sam Carter.

"We're mates with the guys and were sharing a bus for the whole two week tour!" Carter told Kerrang!. "The fact that people believed it was real is just so ridiculous! We filmed the fight about three times and even added in comedy punch noises and yet kids were still sending us over-the-top hate mail!" Oliver Sykes also commented saying "All-day events can get boring very fast so we conjured up the first idiotic thing we could think of and made it as unbelievable as possible. Sam was getting death threats from kids off MySpace and at the same time getting praised for laying me out! We're sorry if anyone was upset by this although I'm sure most people reading this probably like the thought of me getting a punch in the face!".[21]

About Speak Up

About SPEAK UP BAND

I forgot what year exactly this band was formed, but as far as i remember, i was on the 2nd grade of high school. So, i suppose it was in 1996 or 1997. The first formation was 5 people and the band called SUSPECT DEVICE. At first, i was the drummer. But when the guitarist ( Koko ) left the band, we had to decide who's gonna fill the guitar position or else, we're fucked. At that time, i couldn't even play guitar properly, but i took the challenge. The drummer post left vacant. So we asked my frontman's (Adis) brother, Arif to help us. He (Arif) was a street punk drummer from a legendary band called WARHEAD. Then, again, our rhythm guitarist (Pentoel) and bassist (Ade) decided to leave the band, and left us all in confusion. My little brother introduced me to one of his school mate name FARHAN. He said he can play bass quite well, so we asked him for a jam and took a vote, the vote was...He's good and we want him to be our bass player. FARHAN became our bass player ever since. Due to the re-formation of the band, from that day on we called our band SPEAK UP... In the mid 99, we had a very serious intern problems related to our frontman, it was a week before we recorded our first album!!! So with all due respect our frontman determined to leave the band... We were sooooo fucked up during that time, there were only 3 of us without a frontman... We were thinking a lot and came out to a conclusion, we would not add another personnel, instead, we voted to let me took the post. I took the responsibility and do the best i can. A few days, a few months after, we recorded and released our first album called BELIEVE US TRUST US on august 99 under UNITE Records... and keep on releasing another...

About Superman is dead band

ABOUT SUPERMAN IS DEAD

SID, punk rock pioneers of Bali, were born and bred in Kuta Rock City. The band is three chord attitude-heavy young men, by name: " Bobby Kool (lead vocal, guitar, a dog lover and a graphic designer) " Eka Rock (low ridin' family man, beer drinker, laid back bass and backing vocal and a warm smilin' Rock 'N Roll bandman) " Jrx ( low ridin' beer drinking Rock 'N Roll prince charming, drummer and a hairwax junkie) The name 'Superman is Dead' started its' evolution from Stone Temple Pilot's "Superman Silvergun". The name moved on to "Superman is Dead" cause they like the idea that there's no such thing as a perfect person out there. SID actually stumbled together in '95, drawn by their common love of Green Day and NOFX. Their influences soon extended to the punk 'n roll genre a la Supersuckers, Living End and Social Distortion, and here they stay. They say what they wanna say, how they wanna say it. In your face, to say it precisely. SID public image, self described, is "PunkRockaBali" (think raw energy of NOFX vs Social Distortion supersonically fueled with beer-soaked Balinese Rockabilly attitude). History? SID produced their first three albums independently (the boys worked years of crappy night jobs), with fabulous, small scale indie labels 1997 "Case 15", 1999 "Superman is Dead", 2002 "Bad, Bad, Bad"(mini album, 6 tracks). In March 2003 SID finally signed with Sony-BMG Indonesia after extended negotiations regarding their right to sing the majority of their tracks in English and have full artistic rights over their 'image'!! With that decision they single handedly became the first band from Bali to be invited to sign with a major recording label in Indonesia, the first band in their nation (to my knowledge) to be recording majority of songs in English, AND the first punk band in Indonesia to get the national exposure and promotion that working with a major label in a third world country provides. And so the history of Indonesian Punk Rock begins! And as for the question that everyone wants to know.the infamous bomb in Bali happened about 75M from their home, hangout center, punkrock boutique, bar and rehearsal studio that is also Jerinx' house, in the heart of Kuta. After panel beating back the rolling doors of the studio, and shifting a little debris, rehearsals continued as usual. Yeah, they saw a lot, it sucked big time, but its' not gonna stop 'em! And where are they now? At the end of 2002, one of the more respectable music mags here cited SID as "The Next Big Thing" for 2003. With the release of their fourth album, "Kuta Rock City", followed by major airplay nationally and in some countries overseas, coupled with the instantpopularity of their newest filmclip. SID suddenly find themselves touring continuously throughout Indonesia. Last week they were in four major Indonesian cities, on three islands, in 7 days! Sometimes playing for free at underground scene clubs, sometimes at street skate parties or alternative band festivals, at lots of universities, and even occasionally at "classy" venues who would have probably denied them entrance years ago! Which means more beers for all. In 2003 SID even got a mention in Time Asia. They also won a few music awards. MTV Awards for Best New Artist 2003, AMI Awards for The Best New Artist 2003. Nominated again in AMI Awards 2007 for Best Rock Album. October 2007 they did an amazing Australian tour, 8 cities, 16 gigs, 33 days with their strong D.I.Y work ethic. SID had share stages with international bands such as NOFX, MXPX and Hoobastank. They remain proud, boys from the streets of Kuta with a love of punk rock, beers and a good time. Ready for whatever comes next, excited about the next gig.
Nama 'Superman is Dead' memulai evolusinya 'dari Stone Temple Pilot's "Superman Silvergun".

Sejarah? SID menghasilkan tiga album pertama mereka mandiri (anak-anak bekerja tahun pekerjaan malam jelek), dengan luar biasa, label indie kecil 1997 "Case 15", 1999 "Superman is Dead", 2002 "Bad, Bad, Bad" (mini album, 6 tracks).

MTV Awards untuk New Artist, Best 2003 AMI Awards untuk The Best New Artist 2003.
